Bikeability

Pupils in Year 5 have been taking part in Bikeability Training during November. This is the national cycle training programme supported and funded by the Department for Transport.  Our pupils have been supported to improve their cycling skills and confidence, as well as bicycle safety.

Children in Need

We had a non-uniform day on Friday to raise money for Children in Need.

Library Visits

During October and November, Year 5 visited Bedworth Library where we learnt lots of useful information about how to get a library card, how many books we can borrow and how long we can borrow them for. We were also challenged to find a given book using the Dewey Decimal System in the library. At the end of the session, we listened to a book extract and had a go at acting out a myth.

Remembrance Day

As a local school in 'the town that never forgets' we made our annual visit to watch the Remembrance Day Parade in the town centre on 11/11/24. The children showed great respect towards all those involved. We also had a go at writing our own poems to commemorate Armistice Day, inspired by the well-known poem, Flanders Fields.

God and the Big Bang

The children took part in interactive workshops providing the opportunity to discover, discuss and debate the compatibility of science and faith. This linked nicely to our RE topic from the first autumn term, linking science to the Creation Story. In the afternoon, many parents and family members joined us to listen to some new songs we learned about creation. The children had a fantastic day, demonstrating what they had learned in lessons, as well as asking thought-provoking questions to deepen their understanding.

Severn Trent

We had a visit from Severn Trent who taught us the importance of using water responsibly.

Collective Worship in the Chapel

Each class joined Kay, our school chaplain, in the chapel to take part in a special class worship using iSingPop and sharing some prayers about honesty.

Photos and events from 2023-24

5JC had a Commando Joe's session in the school hall. The children were put in to small teams.

They all had a discussion first about what the task and what they needed to achieve, groups had  limited equipment and a time restraint. Overall, the children were successful in their tasks and we had some great results.
