In Early years, we follow the EYFS statutory framework and Development Matters - Non Statutory Guidance. History can be found within 'Understanding the World'. Children who reach their Early Learning Goal (ELG) by the end of Reception in this area should be able to: 

• Talk about the lives of the people around them and their roles in society.
• Know some similarities and differences between things in the past and now, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class.
• Understand the past through settings, characters and events encountered in books read in class and storytelling

EYFS join in with whole school Historical events including Black History Month, Remembrance Day and Founder's Day, as well as being exposed to incidental learning in the EYFS environment.
