Founder's Day
Founder's Day
A huge part of our local history is Nicholas Chamberlaine. He became the Rector of Bedworth in 1664. During that time he bought the land in which The Almshouses were built on as well as a school for boys and a school for girls. When he later died, he left money in his will to the people of Bedworth. Every year, schools in the Nicholas Chamberlaine Trust meet to celebrate this man and what he did for our town. We sing songs, listen to his story, share prayers and each child receives a currant bun, in place of a hot meal which used to be given years ago.
